Link Invariants from Classical Chern-Simons Theory
Taking as starting point a perturbative study of the classical equations of motion of the non-Abelian Chern-Simons theory with non dynamical sources, we obtain analytical expressions for link invariants. In order to present these expressions in a manifestly diffeomorphism-invariant form, we introduce a set of differential forms associated with submanifolds in R3, that are metric independent, an...
متن کاملClassical Covariants and Modular Invariants
There is a relationship between the covariants of binary forms, a central topic in classical invariant theory, and the invariants of modular representations of cyclic groups of prime order. This relationship was identified by Gert Almkvist [1] and used implicitly in both [15] and [17]. In this note we investigate the relationship and provide a progress report on an application. Our primary moti...
متن کاملOn Classical, Fuzzy Classical, Quantum and Fuzzy Quantum Systems
In this paper we consider physical systems and the concept of their states in the context of the theory of fuzzy sets and systems. In section 1 we give a brief sketch on the fundamental difference between the theories of classical physics and quantum mechanics. In section 2 and 3 we introduce very shortly systems and their states in classical and quantum mechanics, respectively. Section 4 prese...
متن کاملTowards Invariants of Surfaces in 4-space via Classical Link Invariants
In this paper, we introduce a method to construct ambient isotopy invariants for smooth imbeddings of closed surfaces into 4-space by using hyperbolic splittings of the imbedded surfaces and an arbitrary given isotopy or regular isotopy invariant of classical knots and links in 3-space. Using this construction, adopting the Kauffman bracket polynomial as an example, we produce some invariants.
متن کاملThe Quantum-Classical Metal
In a normal Fermi liquid, Landau’s theory precludes the loss of single fermion, quantum coherence in the low energy/temperature limit. For highly anisotropic, strongly correlated metals there is no proof that this remains the case: we propose that quantum coherence for transport in some directions may be lost intrinsically. This should stabilize a novel, qualitatively anisotropic non-Fermi liqu...
